Note: Announced in the Journal de Paris, September 29, 1790; The allegorical print is related to the civic oath taken in the presence of King Louis XVI of France by deputies of the National Assembly at the Château des Tuileries on February 4, 1790; A personification of France, standing next to Bailly, President of the National Assembly, presents a civic crown to King Louis XVI, who is accompanied by Minerva and Justice. Fame sounds a trumpet, while Aristocracy is being chased away. La Fayette appears on the right; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no.
