Farnese Flora (colossal statues; unknown Roman sculptor; restored by Guglielmo della Porta; early Roman empire, probably 2...)
Note: Colossal marble statue that was found in the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla during excavations under Pope Paul III. Roman copy of a probably smaller Greek original. It stood in the Farnese Palace in Rome until 1790, when the Farnese collection was removed to Naples. When found, th head, forarms, and feet were missing. The figure was restored as Flora by Guglielmo della Porta. Later scholars proposed that the figure was a muse in dance, either Erato or Terpsichore.
