Note: The allegorical print relates to the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, and the Festival of Federation celebrated on July 14, 1790, each represented in an oval medallion; On the left, a grenadier, followed by national guards, tramples over the aristocracy. On the right, Liberty greets France, while guards take an oath in front of the École militaire in Paris. Between the medallions are fasces, topped by a liberty cap, over a sphere decorated with fleurs-de-lys; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no. P980009*).
