Note: For neglecting to protect the royal family during the June 20, 1792, popular uprising, Pétion was suspended from his functions as mayor of Paris by the Directory of the Seine département. The Legislative Assembly rescinded the suspension in July. On August 3, 1792, Mayor Pétion called on the assembly to depose the King. Justice is seated before a group of patriots, resting her left arm on an oval portrait medallion of Pétion, while Liberty throws arrows against Cromwell, Louis XVI, and Marie-Antoinette; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no.
