Parshall, p. 302-303 and The print in Italy 1550-1620 / Michael Bury, p. 232; The anonymous portrait is of Antonio Salamanca, a print and book publisher in Rome. The print is currently attributed to Nicolas Beatrizet, following Bartsch's suggestion. However, several motifs in the composition, as well as the allegory of the city of Rome in the upper center, are derived from prints that Enea Vico engraved for Le imagini ... degli Imperatori (cf. Pagani). Publication: [ca. 1560].
