Note: The print depicts the conclave that opened in Rome when the Holy See was left vacant upon the death of Alexander VII, and which elected Cardinal Giulio Rospigliosi as Pope Clement IX on 20 June 1667; A portrait medallion of the deceased pope, a detailed plan of the Vatican Palace, and an elevation of the Basilica of St. Peter's are shown. Six vignettes of rituals, ceremonies, and processions are displayed with accompanying captions.
