Note: Francesco Croce, a Milanese architect, participated in the construction of the Duomo in Milan and designed several catafalques for dignitaries and nobles; The funeral ceremony was described by Giuseppe Antonio Sassi in: Pietas, et amor mediolanensium in obitu emmi. cardinalis Benedicti Herbae Odescalchi ... (Mediolani : In curia regia per Joseph Richinum Malatestam regium, ducalemque typographum, 1741). Bolognese etcher, who was active in Milan from circa 1723; The print depicts the catafalque designed by Francesco Croce for the obsequies of Cardinal Benedetto Erba Odescalchi, celebrated on December 23, 1740, in the former Church of San Giovanni in Conca in Milan; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
