Note: Carlo Francesco Silva was a painter and architect active in Morbio, Rome, Como and Milan, where he died in 1726; Etcher and engraver, who was active in Milan; The print depicts the funeral decoration of a church portal, designed by Carlo Francesco Silva. The portal is adorned with a double-headed eagle and a shield showing a lion rampant, quartered with two checkered compartments. The pediment is decorated with a scene of the creation of Eve; A pencil annotation on verso of print identifies the deceased as Maria Anna of Austria (1634-1696), consort of Philip IV: Pompe funebre nel Duomo di Milano per la regina Anna Maria d'Austria, moglie di Filippo IV di Spagna, 1696; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**).
