Note: The plates were also issued with the libretti published by Pietro Paolo Bissari: Fedra incoronata (In Monaco : Appresso Gioann Iekelino, l'anno 1662); Antiopa giustificata drama guerriero (In Monaco : Appresso Gioann [Iekelino?], 1662); Medea vendicativa, drama di foco (In Monaco : Appresso Gioann Ieklino stampator, 1662); Each etching (32 x 44 cm. and smaller) is bound folded in two; Title from spine; The volume of prints records the festivities staged in Munich during the month of September 1662 in celebration of the christening of Maximilian II Emanuel, son of Elector Ferdinand Maria of Bavaria, and Princess Henriette Adélaïde or Henriette Adelheid of Savoy; The prints, of which fourteen are signed by Melchior Küsel and five by Matthäus Küsel, are derived from drawings by Caspar Amort. They record the designs of Francesco Santurini for the sets of the opera Fedra incoronata, for the floats of the tournament Antiopa giustificata, and for the fireworks display Medea vindicativa. One plate, inscribed Facies externa Hippodromi Monacensis, shows a ground plan and a view of the facade of the Hippodrome theater in Munich; The volume contains 4 blue streamers and 11 leaves of notes inscribed with captions identifying the plates; "1820 / All'amico conte Leonardo Trissino / Franco Testa"--annotated in brown ink on front pastedown; "1 plate of the theatre ... / 12 for Fedra / 11 for Antiopa / 8 for Medea / ..."--pencilled on back pastedown.
