Note: Copy 1 has former inventory no. 83.GI.277.225; Copy 1 trimmed within plate mark and lacks legend at foot. Extensive reinforcing paper patches on verso. Impressions of the etching were issued with Alessandro della Stufa's description of the obsequies: Esequie della maesta cesarea dell'imperador Mattia ... (In Firenze : Nella stamperia del Cecconcelli, 1619); The print depicts the memorial service in honor of Holy Roman emperor Matthias, celebrated by Cosimo II in the Church of San Lorenzo, Florence, on April 15, 1619; The nave of San Lorenzo is adorned with funerary draperies and skeletons. A preacher standing at the pulpit recites the office. Beyond the altar, the cenotaph designed by Giulio Parigi is displayed before a monumental candle pyramid ensigned with a double-headed eagle; Copy 1 forms part of: Ornament prints collection, ca. 1550-ca. 1830 (Accession no.
