Note: The Sicilian printmaker Francesco Faraone Aquila from Palermo was active in Rome from 1690 to 1740, collaborating with the printer Domenico de' Rossi. He created prints recording ceremonies at the papal court; The print shows a triumphal arch commissioned by councillors or conservatori in honor of Pope Innocent XIII's taking possession of San Giovanni in Laterano on November 16, 1721; The ephemeral arch was designed by Alessandro Specchi and erected in the Piazza del Campidoglio, which appears in the background. Its sides are adorned with two standing sculptures of Castor and Pollux; the arch opening reveals the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
