Note: The Flemish printmaker and publisher Arnold van Westerhout from Antwerp was active from 1681 in Rome, where he remained until his death in 1725, apart from a stay in Florence that was documented in 1691 and 1692. In 1720, he moved to the parish of Santa Maria in Trivio, near the fountain of Trevi, via delle Muratte; The print shows a triumphal arch commissioned by Duke Francesco Farnese of Parma and Piacenza in honor of Pope Innocent XIII's taking possession of San Giovanni in Laterano on November 16, 1721; Designed by Pompeo Aldrovandini to be erected near the Orti farnesiani in the Campo Vaccino or Forum in Rome, the ephemeral arch appears before the Arch of Titus; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
