Note: Alessandro Specchi, a Roman architect, urban designer, and etcher, collaborated with the publisher Giovanni Giacomo de' Rossi and his son Domenico de' Rossi. The print shows a triumphal arch commissioned by Duke Ranuccio Farnese of Parma and Piacenza in honor of Pope Alexander VIII's taking possession of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano on 23 October 1689; Designed by Carlo Rainaldi, the ephemeral arch was erected in front of the Orti farnesiani in the Campo Vaccino or Forum in Rome; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
