Note: Title from Laran; French printmaker, designer, painter, and writer; The print depicts the fable La tête et la queue du serpent or The head and the tail of the serpent by Jean de La Fontaine. It is based on a watercolor by Gustave Moreau from his series called Les fables de La Fontaine. A serpent is depicted rising on the shore of the Stygian Lake, while human souls fall into the dark waters of the lake, to be carried over to hell.
