Sealed beneath this French leaded crystal dome is a detail of a page in the Spinola Hours, a Flemish illuminated manuscript in the collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum. The text is part of a prayer to Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr. The border is richly decorated with flowers and insects carefully observed in the natural world. 

The paperweight is boxed with a card that tells the history of the intricate and vivid detail. Approximately 3 1/2" x 1 1/2".
