cable modems

I've been using at&t's at home at an introductory rate. Not only will that
rate soon be over, but they just raised the regular rate another $6. My
questions to you guys are . . . how much do you pay for cable internet
access? Do you feel it is worth it? Would you go back to dial-up? Why or
why not? Close to $50 a month just seems like a lot to me. I like the
always being on-line, and being able to get phone calls. However, I'm not
sure things download that much more quickly (although, I could be
forgetting). I'd like to try DSL, anyone use that?
