I'm surprised by this review. I find little of objection in any of the
Behind the Scenes videos.

Hi. I have to agree here with Patty. Two of these videos are my
"staples"...often-viewed videos. I use the one on LINE with Thiebaud for my
7th graders as we discuss line. I like how it shows the process of the
artist's thinking as well as the cartooning segment which grabs my middlers
like a magnet...ESPECIALLY the song about burning the school down and
buggin' the teachers. They can r-e-l-a-t-e (grin). You gotta have a sense of
humor teaching in middle school.

I also like the one about color. I like the kids to listen especially to how
the artist picks his colors out from observing flower colors in a flower
mart and while painting explains his painting symbols and what they mean to
him. I also like the part about how colors change when near vs far....aerial
perspective visually.

I just got a new video about "Fingerpainting" which I like. I've only viewed
it quickly once and need to go back for a second viewing before I would
recommend it for sure. It's the one we talked about a couple of months ago
on the listserv and it's about adult fingerpainting for a more advanced
study.

Another favorite is MASTERS OF ILLUSION though now the 7th grade teachers
are all showing it in their classes. Guess I shouldn't complain since it's
about the arts, hum?
I especially like the part about anamorphic art.

And I also agree about art videos basically being the pits. Wish someone
would be enterprising enough to take this challenge on. We could certainly
use a new breed of film. Toodles.....Bunki
