Display Cabinet Revealed


Many wealthy patrons in the 1500s and 1600s formed collections of rare and wondrous objects, reflecting a growing interest in human and natural history. These collections could include specimens of nature, precious works of art, or even scientific instruments. In the first decades of the 1600s, craftsmen from Augsburg, Germany, produced some of the finest pieces of collector's cabinet furniture, such as the example explored in this video.
