The thin trunk and skeletal branches of a leafless tree cast soft shadows against a pristine, white wall, whose solidity seems to contrast with the tree's fragility. Hairline cracks in the wall's surface meander upward from its base in the foreground, as if stretching to meet the tree's branches, and echoing their lines. To the left of the building, a black void--negative space--enhances the mysterious and elusive quality of the scene.
