Little is known about Jean de la Croix, who headed one of the low-warp loom workshops at the Gobelins Tapestry Manufactory. There were ten different tapestry workshops at the Gobelins; eight, including de la Croix's, used mainly wool and silk threads, while the two largest wove tapestries that included precious gold and silver yarns.
