It was stunning to see the actual icons, which I have seen in books for decades. Many thanks to the Getty Museum and the monks of Saint Catherine's Monastery.

This [the video available on this Web site] was the best documentary I've seen in a long time. I want to see the exhibit and perhaps some day visit the monastery too.

We are avid visitors to your museum and the Getty Villa, but the icons from Sinai have moved us deeply. We are so sorry they cannot remain part of your permanent collection so we could visit them at our leisure. Last Sunday we held a vigil in front of Saint Theodosia, thinking this may be our last opportunity to see her.

Wow! What an exquisite collection of icons. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to view them. Thank you!

I am looking forward to seeing this exhibit. I went to Sinai in 2003, but wasn't able to go inside the monastery. I am so excited that I will finally see the great icons from inside the walls.

I happened to be traveling from Burbank to Santa Monica with time on my hands earlier this month and decided to treat myself to some culture by visiting your museum. In doing so I stumbled onto the icons from Sinai purely by coincidence. What a stroke of luck. May I congratulate you on this truly magnificent exhibition.

The splendid quality of the exhibits and the obvious respect with which they were displayed and treated created an atmospere of tranquility and reflection. It was as if some of the spirituality of Saint Catherine's had traveled with the icons all the way to California. It was my first visit to the Getty Museum and I am gratefull for the experience.

I would love to visit this monastery. It is truly inspirational. Icons give me peace when I look at them.

Thank you for bringing this awesome exhibit! It totally surpassed my expectations, especially the stunning effect of the "ghostly baby Jesus" in the mantle of the Virgin Mary seen in the icon of the Annunciation, written by the iconographer from Constantinople. It would be worth traveling aroung the world to see in this one icon such a seemingly supernatural effect, which has lasted for a thousand years! The people who viewed this with me found this icon absolutely thrilling!

Let me add my voice to those of the Orthodox Christians around North America who would love to see this exhibit travel. Obviously, the safety of the icons is paramount. But those of us not from Southern California would also like to see such an amazing exhibit of our heritage, were it possible.

Congratulations. This was exceptional, perhaps your finest exhibition yet.

Will this exhibition be presented anywhere in the northeast? This area has a large amount of members of the Orthodox Church and I know this would be very uplifting to all of them. I cannot travel to the West Coast and am deeply saddened to think that it was here in the U.S. but we here in the northeast couldn't see these sacred items. I rejoice for all of you who are able to reflect on these wonderful and blessed writings.

Editor's Note: The Getty Center is the only venue for this exhibition. The objects will return to the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai after the exhibition closes in March.

I am an Orthodox Christian and visited your exhibition when visiting my son and daughter-in-law over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was very moving. I ordered a copy of the DVD online but received a reply that the DVDs were no longer available. I searched on the Getty exhibition Web site, but cannot locate the link. Will you provide directions to access the video online?

Editor's Note: Unfortunately, we have given away all of the DVDs. The video can still be viewed on this Web site. Click on the "Exhibition" tab above and then select "Video Excursion" at left to view.

Thank you for a truly wonderful exhibit. Not only was it a treat to spend time with the icons and other items (especially speaking as a professor of liturgy and a priest), but the environment, both physical and human (and divine!) combined to create a wonderful time outside-of-time. I shared the space with a Jewish woman who peppered me with questions about various items, was fascinated to see groups of Catholic nuns and Buddhist monks wandering through, and reveled in Orthodox Christians praying before some icons while other viewers saw them in a different way. Thank you for the total experience!
