Rococo

From the French rocaille, meaning rockwork. A style of painting, architecture, and interior decoration in the early 1700s especially prominent during Louis XV's reign. Asymmetry, soft colors, gaiety, and naturalistic motifs deriving from rocks and shells characterize the style.
