Arthur F. Kales (American, 1882 - 1936)
27.1 x 20.4 cm (10 11/16 x 8 1/16 in.)
Gift of Michael Wilson
Explaining the abundance of photographic activity in this state, Los Angeles resident Arthur Kales wrote, "Nature has climatically and scenically endowed California beyond her needs. Conditions are ideal for the enjoyment of photography the year round." Kales frequently used dancers as models for his dramatic, staged pictures, posing them in wooded settings or on movie sets.
