Baruch appears within an initial E, the first letter of the book of his prophecies in this large Bible. The anonymous illuminator depicted the prophet writing, in much the way a medieval scribe might have worked. Using the penknife in his left hand to hold the parchment down on a slanted surface, he writes with the quill pen in his right hand. The halo marks the prophet as a holy man, and the gold background imparts a spiritual quality to the scene.
