Master of the Antiphonal Q of San Giorgio Maggiore
|Dates||about 1440 - about 1470|
The Master of Antiphonal Q of San Giorgio Maggiore, an anonymous manuscript illuminator, takes his name from one of the choir books which he decorated for the Benedictine monks of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice. Active roughly from the 1440s through the 1460s, this artist worked in northern Italy. Some of his miniatures suggest that he looked closely at the art of Pisanello.
