Lotte Beese studied weaving, architecture, and photography at the Bauhaus school, where she worked with Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Klee, among others. She made photographs only briefly, from 1926 until 1928. For most of her professional life, Beese worked as an architect in Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union, and Amsterdam, where she established an office in 1935. She later worked as an architect in the development of Rotterdam.
