Network/Server Operations Technician, Information Technology Services, The J. Paul Getty Trust Requisition: 3175
Tests and analyzes all elements of the network/server facilities, including power, software, communication devices, lines, modems, fiber-optic cabling and terminals. Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network/server resources. Utilizes software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting network/server performance. Performs enterprise data backup, recovery and archiving processes and technologies. Creates, adds, changes and deletes user account information, including passwords, on all server platforms. Applies knowledge of network/server operations to assignments of moderate complexity. Performs daily data backup, recovery and archiving using Veritas Netbackup. Performs routine testing and solves problems with network/server facilities. Maintains operating records/logs and production reports to track server and network activity. Monitors production systems for availability, and alerts support staff when problems arise. Qualifications: Has knowledge of one or more operating systems such as UNIX, Windows, Novell, GroupWise, or Exchange. AA degree. 2-5 years related experience in a network/server operations or data center operations.
