Getty Conservation Directory Usability Report, 2003

The Getty Conservation directory is a subdirectory of www.getty.edu and is the Web presence of the Getty Conservation Institute. It contains a wide variety of conservation content including direct access to the AATA database, the Getty Conservation Institute Newsletter, and reports on field and science projects.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usability of the Conservation subdirectory design and functionality. The Conservation Directory usability test was conducted over a three-day period, January 7th-9th 2003. Usability objectives included:

  • User performance when searching for project information.
  • Reading and understanding content.
  • Access to research.
  • Interpreting links from the home page.
  • Suitability of design to audience objectives.
  • Standard search options.
  • The users' overall subjective satisfaction.
